CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. -- A 19-year-old man was killed and three other men were seriously injured after an SUV struck a tree Monday morning.

The crash happened just after 5 a.m. on North Suncoast Boulevard, north of WHCR Limestone Trail.

Troopers say a 2017 GMC Sierra driven by Nicholas William Owens, 20, of Homosassa was traveling southbound on North Suncoast when the SUV left the roadway, crashed into a fence and then into a tree. Investigators haven't determined why the SUV left the roadway.

Albert Dalton Wisnewski, 19 of Crystal River was killed. Passenger Jakob Thomas Salute, 19 of Crystal River was in critical condition at Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Timothy Oren Hughes, 29, of Brooksville was taken to Ocala Regional in serious condition. Owens was in serious condition at UF Shands in Gainesville.

None of the people in the GMC were wearing seat belts, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said. Charges are pending in the crash.
