MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A man's body was found floating in the Manatee River on Sunday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

A person called authories at about 9 a.m. after seeing what appeared to be a body floating near the Green Bridge, deputies said.

Deputies, the Sheriff's Office marine unit and the Palmetto Police Department responded to the scene. The marine unit retrieved the body from the water.

The body was identified as 58-year-old Daniel Robert Dade. Shortly after the body was found, Dade's wife reported him missing.

She told authorities her husband left home by boat and traveled to Woody's River Roo, a riverside restaurant and bar. The last time she heard from him was at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

Witnesses at the restaurant told deputies Dade had been drinking alcoholic beverages at the bar before leaving on his boat at 8:30 p.m.

Deputies believe Dade may have accidentally drowned. 

Authorities are searching for Dade's boat.
