TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. — The Pinellas County School District has received test results on the hole that opened up on the campus of Tarpon Springs High School last week. 

According to officials, the ground radar test was not indicative of the presence of a sinkhole at the high school.

The district plans to pursue additional testing to make absolutely certain the area is stable, according to Pinellas County Schools PIO Lisa Wolf. 

The hole was discovered before school started on Friday, May 10, near the Jacobson Culinary Arts Academy.  Class went on as scheduled, however, students were kept away from the building while crews worked to secure the 20 foot wide gap that measured 12 feet deep. 

The hole was filled with dirt earlier this week and tests were completed Tuesday after rain delayed them on Monday. 

Wolf said the area of the hole will remain closed to students and staff until follow up testing is complete.
