ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — “The Nickel Ride” is Uber and Lyft’s newest competition, offering rides for free around St. Petersburg.

  • Gets riders anywhere in Downtown St. Petersburg, even to St. Pete Beach, for free
  • Their electric cars are moving billboards, covering cost for riders
  • Operates in St. Pete, Fort Myers and Cape Coral

The Nickel Ride is headquartered at Punky’s Bar and Grill and offers free rides anywhere in Downtown St. Pete, including to St. Pete Beach.

The electric cars are moving billboards and lease panels of the cars to advertisers to allow the service to be free.

“St. Pete is one of only a handful of cities where The Nickel Ride operates,” said driver Meg Sunga. “Just another innovative option to get you where you need to go without having to get there yourself.”

The service is also available in Fort Myers and Cape Coral.
