HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to a fire at the Shoot Straight Gun Range on US 301 Friday afternoon.

Luckily, no injuries have been reported.

Firefighters arrived to the scene just after 1 p.m. and found smoke coming from the rear of the building.  They said the initial blaze appeared to have centered around the backstop of the range, toward the rear of the building.

It took crews 30 minutes to get the smoky fire under control.  Officials said parts of the building continued to re-ignite after the initial flames were extinguished, including an extension of the fire between the ceiling and the roof.  Fire crews had to break through at least one area of the roof to access certain areas where the fire was located.

While crews were working to get the fire under control, US 301 northbound was temporarily shut down as a safety precaution.

The building is still being ventilated and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
