BRADENTON, Fla. — A fallen tree that has been laying on top of several homes in Manatee County since Thursday has finally been picked up.

Saturday morning, tree crews blocked an entire road at Sunset Village Mobile Home in Bradenton to perform the cleanup.

Residents watched as crews used cranes, chainsaws and wood chippers to cut the massive tree that demolished at least one home.

"It's heartbreaking, to say the least," said homeowner Dan Gundarman.

Gundarman's home took the brunt of the fall, with massive trees crushing his roof into pieces.

"I guess maybe it hasn't all sunk in yet," says Gundarman. "I'm worried about what's happening next and where I'm going to go."

He says neighbors have been complaining about the tree for years and said he was not surprised when it finally uprooted.

"We have been fighting to get rid of it for a couple of years," said Gundarman. "Now the inevitable happened."

It is still unclear if the tree broke any residential county codes.

Property managers tell Spectrum Bay News 9 they are still assessing the damage.

For now, those who have been effected will have temporary housing provided by the Red Cross.
