SARASOTA, Fla. — A 34-year-old teacher from Bradenton has been charged with inappropriately touching girls.

  • Middle School teacher arrested in Sarasota
  • Police: Maxwell Guss, a Bradenton resident, charged with 2 counts of lewd and lascivious conduct
  • Case still under investigation

A business teacher at Brookside Middle School in Sarasota, Maxwell Guss was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious conduct.

Now, Sarasota police are concerned there may be more victims.

In September, two students complained that Guss inappropriately touched them while in class.

Guss is also accused of inappropriately touching a student at Sarasota High in 2017 when he was an Algebra 1 teacher. Officials said the student told school administration but it was never reported to law enforcement by the school.

Based on the investigation, detectives believe there may be more victims.

Guss was also a teacher at Harllee Middle School and Bayshore High School in Manatee County.

Guss has been placed on administrative leave.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Sarasota Police at (941) 366-8000.
