On Friday, twins Linda McMullen Davidson and Laura McMullen Weikel visited the hospital to thank them for saving their lives.

The McMullen's were born in 1939, three months premature, weighing only two pounds each.

"We're glad we're here," says Davidson.

Hospital officials say, at the time, doctors didn't have the right equipment to properly incubate the twins.

So, they decided to put the sisters in a wooden field box with a small light bulb that would keep them warm.

They stayed in the makeshift incubator for months, until they were healthy enough to go home.

"It's wonderful we have survived for this long," says Weikel.

Now, 80 years later, they toured the hospital's new neonatal intensive care unit.

They said they are thankful for the staff that saved their lives.

"I've had a very long and happy life. God has been good to us. I am grateful and thankful,” said Davidson.
