HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — The future of the Republican and Democratic parties are weighing in on the inauguration. The Hillsborough County Young Democrats and the Tampa Bay Young Republicans said they’re anxious to see this unprecedented inauguration.

Michael Womack with the Hillsborough County Young Democrats said he’s hoping to learn more about the Biden Administration’s plans.

“I'm looking forward to a speech that includes things the vast majority of Americans hold dear — decency, values, common respect, is coming back to the federal government, and I think it will be a fresh breath of air for so many,” said Womack.

Womack said he’s already seen positive changes being made, like the diversity in Biden’s cabinet selections.

The Tampa Bay Young Republicans said they’re not happy with some of the policies the new administration is proposing, and they want to hear more about Donald Trump’s plans moving forward, although they’re not expecting much since Twitter blocked him. Moving forward, they said the Republican Party should start taking a closer look at its younger generation.

“We have a very different mindset when it comes to approaching things, especially social issues, so a lot of the things people have put on the Republican party from a leadership standpoint up in D.C. is not the same feeling and grassroot efforts as when you go to a young Republicans event,” said Jake Hoffman, President of the Tampa Bay Young Republicans.
