TAMPA, Fla. — The Super Bowl is in our backyard, but Bay area football fans couldn't be further away from getting a ticket to the game.

That's because most are priced out.

When asked about available ticket prices to the game, Visit Tampa Bay CEO Santiago Corrada could only laugh.

What You Need To Know

That was a fitting response, seeing that the cheapest Super Bowl ticket right now is about $6,000. And some resale single tickets are listing for as high as $40,000.

"It's a shame because most of the people would like to go in there and be able to enjoy the experience,” said Tampa resident Carlos Okundo. “But then at the same time you've got other people that are trying to make a quick buck off of it.”

Just think of buying the most expensive two tickets for Super Bowl LV, and then think of what good you could do with that money instead.

Bay area non-profits weighed in on what a donation of $40,000 would mean.

Metropolitan Ministries said it could feed a little more than 20,000 homeless families.

Hailey's Voice of Hope, a suicide prevention non-profit, said it could get more teen mental health curriculum in schools and help pay for mental health training for school resource officers.

It is after all just a football game. But for those that watch from inside, there is no denying it is a once in a lifetime kind of experience.

And a pricey one at that.
