TAMPA, Fla. — COVID-19 vaccination sites are expected to be busy this week, as the state is opening up vaccinations to anyone 40 years and older today.

Also now eligible for the vaccine at Hillsborough County managed sites include health care workers and Pre-K to 12th grade teachers under 40.

Hillsborough County manages three vaccination sites, of which two sites will only be administering second doses of the vaccine.

SECOND DOSE LOCATIONS (limited first doses available):

  • Vance Vogel Sports Complex
    13012 Bullfrog Creek Road, Gibsonton

  • Ed Radice Sports Complex
    14720 Ed Radice Drive, Tampa

Residents will need an appointment at state managed sites and chances are good for the next couple weeks there will be backlogs of people trying to book appointments like when seniors first started vaccinations in January.

Bay area residents can pre-register for vaccinations at myvaccine.fl.gov. or patientportalfl.com

Meanwhile, vaccinations continue at federally supported sites in Tampa, plus at various locations in the Bay area.

Appointments will be available based on the amount of vaccine available for the week and those appointments will book up quickly. 

The Johnson & Johnson one dose vaccine will be available at state sites the last two weeks of April.

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines each require two doses.

Starting next Monday, anyone 18 years and older will be eligible for the vaccine at all state managed sites, including in Hillsborough County. Teens 16 and 17 can also get vaccinated next week but only with the Pfizer vaccine.
