CrossFit Westchase is made up of: Aaron Hanna, owner of the gym, Dillon Bailey, a Lakeland firefighter, Kimberlee DeKrey, who has been doing CrossFit for eight years, and Hannah Hardy, who also attends chiropractic school.

The team made it through three rounds of competition to qualify for the CrossFit Games, which take place in Madison, Wis., July 27, to Aug. 1.

"I would say this is like the Olympics of CrossFit or the Super Bowl of football," said DeKrey. "It is the best of the best, the top in the world.”

"It’s been a dream of mine ever since starting CrossFit,” said Hardy.

"After eight years, it’s almost like surreal," said Bailey.

"It’s been a dream of mine ever since starting CrossFit,” said Hardy.

Hanna is the only member of the team who has already competed in the games.

"I’m excited to go back and see it from a little bit different perspective on the team’s side and again more excited that they get to do this,” said Hanna.

The four train individually and together.

"Wow, we communicate really well. We move really well together, I think we have a shot,” said Hardy.

The team has overcome a lot together,  too.

"A year later after my knee surgery here I am going to the Crossfit games," said DeKrey.

And through it all, the team and members of the CrossFit community have been cheering them on along the way, embracing each other's strengths.

"I thrive in anything that’s an odd object or heavy, so I’m the strength athlete as you would call it,” said DeKrey.

Competing, while encouraging, is what the team does.

"Inspiring others and lightning a good positive fire amongst the community in the gym and the vibe and the atmosphere, that’s what it’s about,” said Hanna.
