MEDINA, Ohio — “Jeopardy!” contestant Matt Amodio, a native of Medina, now is tied for the seventh-longest winning streak in the program’s history after winning his 12th game on Thursday.

Amodio has now won $394,600 on the program, which places him in eighth place all time for non-tournament winnings.

Amodio will go for his 13th victory on the program Friday. If he wins Friday, he’ll tie Matt Jackson for having the sixth-longest run on the show.

Amodio added $26,000 to his winnings Thursday. He was the only contestant to correctly guess the Final Jeopardy question after scratching out his original answer.

He also landed on all three Daily Doubles on the board Thursday.

During his run, Amodio described himself as a “history nerd.” He is currently a Ph.D. student at Yale University.
