ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Tenth-grader, Anicia Briscoe nominated her former 6th grade teacher at Thurgood Marshall Fundamental Middle School in St. Petersburg as an A+ Teacher.

"I nominated her because she made an impact on my life,” said the 15-year-old.

Natasha Reed, a teacher of fifteen years, was touched.

What You Need To Know

"To know that I still am making an impact on her and she’s not even in this building, that means the world to me, it’s priceless,” said Reed who takes her students' success seriously.

"My job is to make sure that I instill in them every possible thing to make them be successful," said Reed who teaches reading and AVID.

"She’ll always be here," said Briscoe. "She’ll always have my back, I can always talk to her about anything."

"The fact that I can come in here and be a light for them to make them laugh to teach them to be something, to take them away from life for a little bit of time, it’s priceless," said Reed.

Briscoe says Ms. Reed was instrumental in encouraging her to go to college and pursue and receive a scholarship.

"To know that there was an opportunity to get her an opportunity to be the first in her family to go to college and just go to college because she deserves it," said Reed.

"She’ll always encourage you to do stuff no matter what and she’ll always tell you that you got it,” said Briscoe.

Anicia wants to be a doctor and Reed will be there to cheer her on.

"It’s not just that I want to make a difference in the classroom, I want to make a difference in their life," said Reed.
