The 84-year-old says he was inspired by his older brothers to enter the service.

Since the Vila Brothers Park dedication 15 years ago, the family and community have held Veterans Day tributes at that location.

"Its an honor to supported," Denio Vilo said.

It's more like a family reunion. The Vila family also had 7 daughters and raised a total of 14 children.

"Its alot of fun!," said Denio. "You pick a number," he said, chuckling.

Tony Vila is the youngest of the family and the youngest brother who served.

The City of Tampa has allocated $1.7 million to honor the vision of their elder brother, the late Hector Vila.

"There's only two of us," Tony Vila said.

The Vila brothers say they want to see the park complete with shelters, a walking trail and a dog park in their lifetime.

Denio Vila says the effort is all about inspiring youth like he and Tony were inspired by their older brothers.

"It's not just to play," he said. "It's to remember them while we're here."
