LAKELAND, Fla. — A miscarriage is a devastating loss for any expecting family.

Jadacy Shepard is a Lakeland mother is using own tragic experience to support other 'Angel Moms'.

The pregnancy and infant loss advocate began her journey to healing with soulful cooking. Her grief of losing her first child also inspired her brand 'A Taste of Healing' .

When Shepard has some one-on-one time with her son Maxwell, she says she loves to take him out for ice cream.

Those calories are an absolute necessity since Maxwell was born at only 24-weeks and stayed in the NICU for four months.

The 17-month-old is also Jadacy's rainbow baby, born after her miscarriage.

Her advocacy encourages other "angel moms" to speak about their experiences.

"So often we celebrate when a baby is born, but when they pass away we go silent," said Shepard.

Her business allows her to stay at home and take care her son.

"Just because of Maxwell's developmental delays, we have to see a lot of doctors," she added.  "It's special. I don't take anything that comes with it for granted."
