ORLANDO, Fla. — The mother and friends of 24-year-old Lauren Winston, who was killed in a hit and run crash in Orlando, are renewing their calls for the driver who killed her to turn themselves in.

“This is a very tragic and violent way for someone to go out, and for her to be as good of a person as she was, she didn’t deserve to go out like that," said Winston's friend Travis Cochran, who couldn't hold back the tears as he talked about the dear friend he’d lost.

“I don’t think you know how much she meant to this family, her friends, she was somebody who left a great impression on us, and someone who was always there for us when we needed her,” Cochran said. 

According to Orlando Police Investigators, 24-year-old Lauren Winston was hit and killed on November 6 in downtown Orlando by a driver who fled the scene.

They’re still looking for a black, 2015 two-door Dodge Challenger with the license plate "B4MSF."

Lauren’s adopted mother Sherri Winston says they held a small gathering Sunday night because that’s exactly how Lauren would’ve liked it.

“I wanted to have this because it feels like she’s here. This was her, like this was her jam!” Winston said. 

They sat together, sharing fun memories of her and her favorite foods.

But the laughter can’t hide the pain they feel and the need for justice they say they deserve.

“She’s missed, and we need some kind of closure,” Winston said. 

“You killed somebody that was very beautiful and you took her from her family that loved the world. If you have it in you to turn yourself in, come out and bring us peace,” Cochran said.
