ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - “We have a pretty big group coming tonight. The Pinellas Paddlers they're all decorating their boards and they join us all the time," said Christine Van Nuys unloading boxes of decorations from her car.

In the short time since Christine Van Nuys started her outdoor adventure company, she's amassed quite a tight knit community in the St. Pete area.

Starting her business just after the pandemic started back in early 2020, she didn't know how it would pan out. Losing her job in marketing due to the shutdowns, she took a gamble and put her marketing skills to use opening up Wandering Adventures.

“We started when everything was just shut down and people were just looking to get out and do something fun and festive and we were able to provide that."

A business venture she tackled with her supportive husband John, one of their most popular adventures this time of year is their Christmas kayaking.

Decking out all their kayaks in festive holiday cheer, they take to the waterways in downtown St Petersburg right at sunset, gliding past a host of iconic spots – like the Dali Museum. The beauty of the city lights is something that doesn't get old for Christine or her family.

"It never gets old. We see something new every time we come out on the water."

And once that sun sinks below horizon, the true magic of the season comes alive on this one-of-a-kind kayaking excursion through the holiday lights of downtown.

Wandering Adventures holiday kayak excursions run through January 3rd, but they have plenty of other fun activities. Be sure to check them all out just head to their website, https://wanderingadventuresllc.com
