Trench Academy in Pasco County is helping kids get ready for a tough new season year round.

Hard work in the gym will pay off on the field, and Danny Lee, the manager of Trench Academy in Trinity, is making sure of it.

The Trinity location is new, but the concept has been around for quite some time.

“Trench Academy started as a lineman school, hence the name Trench because the owner Taylor Scott was figured hey the quarterbacks and receivers and the backs play all year long doing 7-on-7’s but the big guys they’d basically be playing half a year and then not," Lee told Spectrum Sports 360's Katya Guillaume. "He created the program basically wrapped around those guys, and that’s how it started.”

Lee has a background in football — before coming to the Bay Area, he was a strength and conditioning coach for the Baltimore Ravens.

“Just been in sports my whole life," he said. "Played football growing up, that was my main sport, and just had a passion for it. I’ve always had to work out because I realized at a young age that working out is something that is so key to getting better in the sport that you want to do.”

He said the concept at Trench is to start training athletes when they're young.

Kaedyn Ratcliff has been working out at Trench for only a month.

“It makes me feel better," he said. "Like after a workout, I feel good, and I don’t know, it’s just that I feel good and I feel like I’m putting in the work every day.”

The athletes will tell you working out at Trench is not easy, and, of course, it’s not meant to be.

“That’s exactly true," Lee said. "I definitely say we do build these kids up to push them harder. We had a camp just the other day where you can see our Trench athletes stood out, I mean 100%.”

The Trinity location is still under construction and will be fully completed soon, but for those who live further south, the business also has a location on Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa.
