LUTZ, Fla. — It’s opening weekend for the anticipated, Tiger Woods designed, Pop Stroke Golf in Wesley Chapel.

What You Need To Know

  • Tiger Woods designed the 18-hole putt-putt course

  • Florida Sports Coast is a Pasco County sports tourism group

  • It hopes to attract people from all over Florida

The 18-hole putt-putt course designed by Woods was supposed to open last fall, but a late opening isn’t ruining the excitement for Pasco County’s Florida Sports Coast.

“Tourism is the purest form of economic development, and this is a prime example of just that,” said Executive Director of Florida Sports Coast Adam Thomas.

Florida Sports Coast is a Pasco County sports tourism group, with a goal to expand sports tourism in the county.

Since 2019, Pop Stroke is the second largest venue to open, only a seven-minute drive away from the Wiregrass indoor youth sports complex.

Thomas said Florida Sports Coast is continuing to work on those sports-tourism businesses that will not only attract visitors to Pasco County, but also people moving to Florida.

“Coming down the pipe we are going to become one of the first destinations in Florida to become autistic certified, autism certified,” Thomas said. “And that really plays into the sports because of the sensory seeking of autistic kids, and so we are going to be a destination known for autistic travelers. That's one thing we are really looking at our portfolio on the facility side to see where we can expand our destination facility offerings."
