ORLANDO, FLA – How do we want to be remembered? It’s a simple question that makes people think.

Austin Gunn was asked that question point blank. He did not hesitate on his response.

“I think I want to be remembered for doing what I love and that’s it.”

For the 26-year-old Lake Brantley and Rollins College alum, that means two things. The first is the family business.  As the son of Oviedo grad and WWE Hall of Fame inductee, Billy Gunn, Austin’s interest in professional wrestling peaked early.

“It’s just something that’s just so natural and in your blood when you’re a second generation. You’re hanging around The Rock, Stone Cold and my dad. I think inevitably I was just drawn to it.”

The youngest son of a Gunn is currently a rising star with All Elite Wrestling. The family business is booming. Over the summer, Austin’s older brother Colten moved from California back to Florida becoming his tag team partner.

“You never think it would be a possibility that when you’re grown up you’re going to be teaming with your brother and doing this,” Colten said. “It’s a crazy, surreal feeling.”

“I’m thankful that I get to wrestle with my dad and my brother so it’s a family thing now and it’s not just about me now,” Austin said.

Wrestling is in his blood. His first love lives in his soul.

“When it comes to music, this is my thing. This is my realm. This is my area that I thrive in.”

As a teenager, Austin uncovered his affinity for rap. Writing song lyrics in notebooks became his way of expression and self-discovery. It wasn’t until he started playing lacrosse at Rollins where a fascination became a future. That’s when he met Tars basketball player and songwriter Sharif Almulla aka ‘SaifLove.’

“We’re freshman and sophomore in college, we go to a party. I see this guy having a great time. I love his vibe. I love what’s going on. This guy is free styling and just going off. From that point on, that night, was when it really started like hey we can actually really do this.”

Within the last eight months, a passionate side project reached its full potential. It was around the clock work on a debut album while Austin still dedicated full-time work at AEW.

“Why can’t I do both? I want to do the wrestling thing,” Austin said. “John Cena did the wrestling thing and other wrestlers out there are also doing music. There’s something inside of me that says I can be better than that.”

Now he gets the chance to prove it. March 19, Austin and SaifLove’s album “All Alone” officially dropped.

“You kind of get to take a step back and go woah we might have done something right here.”

As the six-song album starts to gain notoriety, Austin’s biggest fan approves it.

“When he was like hey do you want to hear my song? I was like kind of,” a joking Colten said. “I think it’s good. I actually do like it.”

Austin Gunn says he wants to be remembered for doing what he loves.

“From day one that I met him, he’s had a goal to be a professional wrestler. He did that,” said SaifLove. “His second goal was to be an artist. He’s now doing that. The sky is the limit for him. There’s no stopping this guy.”

Maybe just as important, he should be applauded for keeping his word.

“My work is my passion. Wrestling is my passion. Music has always been my passion so I just can’t wait to continue to grow in each platform when it comes to wrestling and music.”

“All Alone” is available on all major music platforms including iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Google Play, Pandora, and YouTube.
