Nine years ago Eric Blackburn took over as head Lacrosse coach at Newsome High School. Since the sport became sanctioned by the FHSAA the wolves have won nine straight district titles and are still looking for the school's first State Championship.

"Every year, that’s the goal, Says Coach Blackburn, the goal isn’t too win districts, the goal is to get to the ultimate place and we’re going to keep working at".

For coach Blackburn his team has become a family run business with his oldest son Colby acting as his Assistant Coach and youngest son Shaun one of his team captains.

Eric Blackburn wouldn't have it any other way, " it’s great to be out here with both my boys, it makes it fun".

His son Colby played at Newsome and was the reason Coach Blackburn became the first and only coach in the school's history so far.

The Wolves are led by Senior Attack Luke Haley, one of the top goal scorers in the country and Newsome's all time leading point scorer.

Haley has an eye for the goal, after scoring 75 goals last season, the Utah commit has already found the back of the net 45 times thru the first 11 games, the second leading scorer in the State of Florida.

Led by Haley, the Wolves have some unfinished business, having never made it past the regional finals, they are off to another great start at 10-1 and hoping this is the year they make it past power houses like Plant and Jesuit to get into the State's Final Four.
