TAMPA, Fla. — If you happen to pass by Wellswood Baseball park in Tampa on any given day, the fields are always buzzing with baseball practice.

For almost three decades brothers Pat and Paul Russo have worked with kids from all over the Bay Area to teach them the game they love.

"This is like somebody getting up and going to work every day but this isn’t a job for us it’s our passion, we love it and we help kids in the process", proclaims Paul Russo before a recent practice.

In 1995, when their days of playing Major League baseball were over, the Russo Brothers formed The Hit factory.

The program started with just two teams back then and about 26 kids, almost 30 years later the program has grown with more then Two-Hundred and Fifty kids participating.

"When we were done playing, we wanted too give back and I think that by us being able to coach and put this thing together, it’s really worked out" says Pat Russo who started the program.

The age range is from 8-to-18. The skill level ranges from beginners to advanced.

Two years ago, the Russo’s partnered with lifelong friend Vince Scanio, a former coach at Tampa Catholic, who handles the teams from 8-to-12 years old.

If you come for the first time it looks just like a spring training. Where kids are getting work on multiple fields, moving from field to field to get their work in.

The Hit Factory has sent more then Two-Hundred and fifty kids to college and had a numerous amount of MLB draft picks.

For the Russo's and partner Vince, it's a lifelong love. One they don't see stopping anytime soon.
