PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — The 21-year-old Pasco man facing murder charges after a body was found in a burning car last week will be held without bond.

Facing a premeditated first-degree murder charge, Michael Psilakis appeared before a judge Saturday morning and was denied bond.

Psilakis' appearance was brief as he as answered a few questions from the judge. An attorney present in the courtroom did advise Psilakis not to speak about the case.

Psilakis will be assigned a public defender.

When deputies arrived at his home as part of the burned car investigation Nov. 2, Psilakis became combative with deputies, who then arrested him on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer.

Deputies found Psilakis driving a stolen vehicle.

Inside of the vehicle was a stolen 9mm handgun, authorities said. When they tried to take him into custody, he fought the two deputies, resulting in the battery and resisting arrest charges. After he was in handcuffs, he tried to run, resulting in the escape charge.

Authorities have released little information on the burning car investigation. The victim's name has not been released.

A body was found in a burned vehicle in Holiday Nov 1. The vehicle was located in the woods east of Baillies Bluff Road near Key Vista Nature Park.
