RIVERVIEW, Fla. — One person was killed and another was injured after a boating accident Sunday evening in Riverview.

The crash happened at 7 p.m. near the Williams Park boat ramp on the Alafia River.

According to Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission investigators, a personal watercraft hit a tube that was being pulled by a boat.

At least two people were on the tube at the time.  Both were thrown off.  

FWC and The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office rushed a dive team to the scene, where deputies found one person injured and a second dead.

Investigators have not determined a cause of the accident, and have not released names of anyone involved.

FWC said the accident is a warning with more people on the water or the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend.

"We also want to remind people with the holiday weekend coming up, that tragedies can occur quickly on the water, and please be safe", said FWC Public Information Officer Bryce Phillippi.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
