CLEARWATER, Fla. — Clearwater Fire Rescue officials are investigating a three-alarm fire Monday night at a storage facility on Myrtle Avenue.

It broke out around 9 p.m.

Nearby trees caught on fire, and about a dozen nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.

The fire quickly grew to three alarms, and firefighters from Safety Harbor, Dunedin, Largo and Palm Harbor also responded.

Fire officials said much of the fire hit the back side of the facility, located at 1401 N. Myrtle Ave. The facility backs up to the Pinellas Trail.

No injuries were reported, but 18 storage units were destroyed and others were damaged.

The state fire marshal's office also is conducting an investigation.
