The medical examiner's report in the investigation into Brian Laundrie's death released Monday.

It concludes that, based on the evidence at hand, Laundrie died of a gunshot wound to the head from a handgun. The manner of death was determined to be suicide.

What You Need To Know

  • The report determined Laundrie's manner of death to be suicide

  • No evidence of drugs in Laundrie's body at the time of death

  • The FBI previously said that Laundrie claimed responsibility for the death of his fiancé, Gabby Petito

The report also stated that there was no evidence of any drugs in Laundrie's system at the time of his death.

The FBI previously said that Laundrie claimed responsibility for the death of Gabrielle Petito, Laundrie's fiancé.

The FBI found Gabby Petito's remains in September at a campsite in Wyoming after she had been reported missing. It was determined that she had been strangled.

Laundrie drove back to Florida alone and did not report her disappearance to authorities, leading some to speculate about his involvement in her disappearance. Laundrie was found dead at Myakkahatchee Creek Park the following month.

In a news release, the FBI released a timeline that said in part, "A review of (a) notebook revealed written statements by Mr. Laundrie claiming responsibility for Ms. Petito’s death."
