The Spring Hill Dixie All Star softball team comprises some of the best players in Hernando County.

What You Need To Know

  • The Spring Hill Dixie All Star softball team is heading to the Dixie World Series

  • Alexis Nobisso says that the entire team works well together

  • Some of the players have been in a World Series before

“We have a lot of great players that work well together," said second basemen Alexis Nobisso. "I think our bats is one of our best things and our infield. We have quick players, we have more power hitters.”

Alexis will tell you the strength of this team is not what they can do on the field, but off of it.

“It has a lot to do with all the chemistry we have on this team," she said. "We’ve been working really well together at practice every night and I think we might goof off a little bit, but everyone takes it serious when it comes to game time, and we just work really well together.”

Their chemistry makes them a strong team and one who’s prepared to bring home a world series title for the first time since 2014, a quest Alexis has been working on for years now.

“It’s really awesome," she said. "Because it’s coming to an end of my softball career and it’s my second to last season, and I wasn’t sure if I was gonna make it there or not.”

Teammate Faith Budlove is the only player who’s competed in a World Series game. For her, this trip means something different.

“I never really won worlds so I wanna win worlds and I actually wanna let my dad be a part of that too because this is my last year, so I wanna go out with a win," she said.

Head coach Scott Budlove was also Faith’s coach that 2014 season when they got knocked out in the first round.

“Seriously," he told his team. "This is what we’ve worked for the last seven months now.”

The same pep talk, different team, and same hunger to bring home the hardware.

Budlove continued to tell them: “It’s your time to go to Louisiana and bring home to Florida what is yours. It’s all about you, all about the work that you did. We can put you in the spots. You need to win.”

They will play in a double-elimination tournament starting on Friday, facing teams they’ve never faced before, but the players say that if they rely on their chemistry like they’ve done all season, they can bring a trophy home.

“Communication is really key because worlds is a different beast and if we’re not on top and not focusing and all that, then we’re just going to fall apart," Faith said. "And if we’re communicating and really listening to each other, that’s a different ball game.”
