LAKELAND, Fla. — A student was taken into custody Wednesday after Polk County school authorities say a gun was discovered on the Tenoroc High School campus.

The school district released a statement that a student was taken into custody after a firearm was brought to school.

The incident was reported and law enforcement was called, leading to the student being taking into custody.

No one was threatened and there were no injuries, authorities said.

Authorities have not released any further information.

The school district statement read:

“This message is being sent on behalf of Tenoroc High School. All students and staff are safe. We want to inform you about an incident that took place on campus this morning. A student brought a firearm to school, but it was quickly reported to our staff and law enforcement, and the student was located and taken into custody. No one was threatened or harmed. We always encourage our students and staff to report any suspicious or dangerous situations, which allows us to work with law enforcement to respond immediately. Again, everyone is safe at Tenoroc High, and we are proceeding with the normal school day. Thank you.”
