PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — Thursday's Skyway Bridge crash that closed the bridge for several hours claimed the life of a brewer at a popular St. Petersburg brewery.

The Florida Highway Patrol has not released the name of the man killed in the Thursday morning crash but according to Spectrum Bay News 9's partner newspaper the Tampa Bay Times, the owner of 3 Daughters Brewing confirmed that head brewer Ty Weaver was killed in the crash.

Troopers said the 50-year-old man was traveling northbound on a motorcycle when he collided with the back of an SUV. Authorities said the motorcyclist was thrown from the bike and was hit by a tractor trailer.

The crash remains under investigation.
