TAMPA, Fla. — From its origin in 1865, Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and is celebrated to reflect and recognize achievements in the African American community. Numerous organizations across Tampa Bay will be honoring the holiday. Here's a list of family-friendly celebrations you can take part in.

  • Tampa Bay Juneteenth Festival
    Saturday, June 17, 3 p.m. | Raymond James Stadium
    This 3rd annual Juneteenth festival is one of the largest in Tampa Bay, featuring live performances, food trucks, craft vendors, a job fair and more.
  • Juneteenth Celebration
    Saturday, June 17, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. | Sam and Martha Gibbons Alumni Center
    The USF Black Alumni Society will be hosting a celebration of culture and community for the whole family. The event will include delicious food vendors, jazz music, dancers and several panels.
  • AfroCAN: Juneteenth Tampa Bay
    Sunday, June 18, 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. | Perry Harvey Park
    This festival is a contemporary summer celebration encouraging residents to explore African American culture. There will be food, fashion and music, as well as yoga and art.
  • Juneteenth: A Free Day
    Monday, June 19 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. | Tampa Bay History Center
    Tampa Bay History Center celebrates the newest federal holiday with free admission. Their latest permanent exhibit, Travails and Triumphs, chronicles over 500 years of Black history in the Tampa Bay area.
  • A Celebration of Juneteenth and Tampa History
    Wednesday, June 21, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. | Seminole Heights Branch Library
    Hosted by the Tampa Bay Chapter of the National Black MBA Association, This event is designed for individuals who want to learn more about the history of Juneteenth and the influence of African Americans in Tampa.
