HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. - A Hernando County woman is using her sewing skills to make facemasks for those most in need, especially our health care providers.

“You start with two layers of fabric the nurses pattern will require four,” said Brooksville resident Ree Webb.

Webb has been making facemasks for about a week, first making some for her in-laws, and now continuing for others.

She’s enlisted the help of her Facebook group, Central Florida Craft Connect, to get even more made.

She said they’re especially focusing on health care providers.

“A lady that’s a PA here in Spring Hill asked for some so I’m making some for her I’m also making some for the vets office,” Webb explained.

The goal is for these masks to serve as an extra layer of protection over the masks health care professionals typically wear.

And she said it’s heartwarming to know she’s making a difference.

“I probably get more out of it than they did,” she explained.

As the requests keep coming in, Webb’s hoping even more people will get involved.

“If you can sew you should. That’s about all there is to it. I have an order for 52 and you know I’m just one person,” she said.

If you’re not a sewer and would like to help, Webb said they’re working off of donated materials, but they’re limiting outside contact so they’re asking for items to be shipped directly to them.

To get in touch with Webb, you can contact her on Facebook, or through the Central Florida Craft Connect Facebook page.
