4 p.m. update: The Florida Highway Patrol says the Sunshine Skyway Bridge has reopened.
TAMPA, Fla. — The Sunshine Skyway Bridge closed on Thursday morning due to conditions caused by Tropical Storm Nicole.
The bridge closed to all traffic as a result of high winds which reached 50 mph, according to officials with Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). The bridge typically closes when winds reach speeds of 40 mph.
